So...did you wonder where I was? Yikes....after a quick visit back to Lima where I stayed in the new Ramada Inn at Lima's airport, I took an early morning flight to Miami and then to Orlando and home to Palm Coast.
The beach sure looked great after so many days of steamy weather in the Amazon and cool weather and high altitudes in the Andes!
After hearing some conflicting stories about the Ramada Hotel at the airport in Lima...I was glad I got the opportunity to see for myself. It is totally convenient and just a walk across the parking lot if you have a late night or early morning flight.
(Secret for prospective travelers.......they have a great spa as well and rather than spend four or five hours between flights in the grim Lima airport....why not opt for some spa treatments at the Ramada?)
If you opt to spend the night...the hotel is adequate and plain. It seems clean and basic and the food very good. I especially enjoyed the very mod bar where you can also spend several fun hours laughing with other travelers and making new friends. But beware...there are other "types" of ladies in this bar even though the hotel tries very hard to keep them out!
One final word about my trip. LAN PERU did an exceptional job. Here in this country they cannot even serve peanuts and a coke on a 45 minute flight....but LAN did an exceptional job with little boxed lunches and a beverage each time we boarded flights from 1/2 hour to 2 hours. These same boxed lunches got old after a few flights....but the service was all smiles and the flight attendants pleasant. Internationally....service was excellent. Our US carriers could learn a thing or two from their foreign counterparts. Thank you LAN!
