HOLIDAY AIRPORT BLUES

Well I am off again. After several warm weeks at my beach in Florida and getting people off to their holiday destinations.....it is my turn!
Here I sit in the Crown Room at the Atlanta Airport in Concourse B. We got here this morning at about 8AM thinking that the crowds would be insane.
They were!
There were lines out the door of people checking in.
Luckily due to the fact that I travel so much...I have garnered enough miles to acquire elite status and so don't have to wait in long lines. The glares by those crowds as we bypassed them was not very special.
Merry Christmas I say. Glowers ensue. Oh well....they now know what I go through at least once or twice per month.
So the way I figure it....I have earned this bypass!

We check in and because of that elite status...I also don't have to pay for my checked luggage. Thank you Delta...for remembering those of us who rack up those miles. I checked the bags of those traveling with me so that they wouldn't have to pay either.
The lady at the counter knows what we are doing. But because she has the very exact first and middle name as me....we chat about our names....and thankfully she is pleasant.
Not so with so many others as the large crowds make everyone cranky.
So thankfully we make it through the TSA's in record time and from check in to the CR it takes 1/2 hour.
Now we sit...and sit...and sit. New York City here we come...but we still sit.

I love NYC at Christmas...it is cold (very cold) and festive. My family lives in the West Village so we can even enjoy the homey feeling of real New Yorkers.
Tonight we will drive uptown to see The Tree and Rockefeller Center with its skating rink and lights. How beautiful.

Sometimes...living in Florida...this season really doesn't feel festive. What with the Palm trees blowing in the wind and a sunny beach day de rigour. But now I am on my way to a real Christmas holiday.
New York City...here we come....but for now we sit and enjoy the Atlanta Airport Blues !
