I am back in Florida again...after having said my goodbyes to my parents in Georgia and driving back 6 hours to home base. Some how six hours sounds like a long time, however it is short in comparison to one's lifetime of experiences and the ride really gives me a quiet period to speculate on what has transpired last year. I had a wonderful 2008. I am so grateful for family and friends and where I am in my life. I have so much to be thankful for....it should be Thanksgiving!
I have several people who follow my bog and also those who live vicariously through my travels. When I was young, if someone had said that I was going to spend a good portion of my life overseas (let along in airplanes) I would have said they were crazy. Now I just enjoy every minute that I am traveling and getting to know our world.
Now I find myself in the middle of January 2009, thinking about where next? I am getting cabin fever and I have only been back for a couple of weeks. Maybe I can find a trip for Valentines Day....much better than roses or chocolates don't you think?
Right now there are "deals" everywhere. I have been to a lot of places, but
where I like to go...the more exotic the better. Those are never inexpensive.
I would love to go to Irian Jaya (Indonesia) where they still don't wear clothes.
I am also dying to go to the south of France and just spend some days in the sun with a pallet and easel and canvas stretched and ready to recieve my efforts.
I don't really know how to paint....I just like the smell of the oils! Africa is again calling my name. It has been several years since I have been there, but remember fondly a program called "Walking with Elephants" where you lived in a tented camp in Botswana with a herd of elephant and learned all there was to know about those huge pacaderms.
Oh well there is plenty of time to think of where next. Today it is warmer and the beach is calling my name. Right now the Right Whales and moving up the East coast of Florida. Yesterday there were pods of 6 and 9 seen close to shore. I will take my chair and my binoculars and dream about where I really want to go....South America (so close to my heart)...Southeast Asia......Southern Africa or Southern Europe....so many places to go and never enough time.
