THE SOUND OF MUSIC TOUR

charset=utf-8">

Another day in Europe..another beer in a scenic spot. Life is good!

For a person who is really not into beer that much in the states, I am making up for lost time here in Austria.

Sentimentalist that I am, today I took the Sound of Music Tour with Judy. I know just about every song from the movie having seen it more than 10 times (a question they ask everyone on the tour). As you visit the sites of the film, they play every song so you can sing along.

Odly enough our guide is not Austrian but a guy from Colorado transplanted to Salzburg.

With some of the jokes he told and the way he talked, I really wondered if he was a graduate of Disney or Six Flaggs back home.

In any case....to be able to get outside of Salzburg and enjoy the spectacular scenery, was well worth the price and stopping in the little town of Mondsee (where the Von Trapps of the movie got married) was great! We ate weiner schnitzel and apple strudel (no not together) for lunch and then had a beer in a little alleyway under flower boxes loaded with bright colorful blooms.

Both Judy and I wished we could take some of those beatiful gardens back to Florida.

The tour drops you in the Mirabel Castle Gardens which are spectacular with geraniums, petunias, hydrangeas and other gorgeous blooms. But that is a long way from our hotel and so we run most of the way back so we can make our train to Budapest.

So as we sit aboard and watch the fields of sunflowers float by with an occasional castle in th background....we again lift our glasses in toast to our too rapid departure from Salzburg and its wonderful music scene. Proust! and on to the next beer!
