Istanbul Turkey

An invitation by the Turkish Tourist Board has brought me to Istanbul during this last week in October. Little did I think I would be here during this important time in the US when we have to decide who will lead our nation. But thanks to absentee ballot...I was able to take the 24 hour trip "across the pond" to Istanbul. I have never eaten so much in what is now my1st 4 hours in Turkey!
Turkish hospitality is all about good food and entertaining. It is also helped by the fact that I was invited to come to Turkey by auspices of being on a travel advisory board for Bon Appetite Magazine.
We are here with the Executive Editor of the magazine and with 1o other "foodies" from around the USA. We all love to cook and we all love to eat ......and we have!
Mosques...food....and Minarets....and food! That is what is we have done today. And we saw a spectacular laser light show and fireworks display over the Bosporus tonight.
Tomorrow we leave Istanbul....a city of 16 million people....for the countryside....and more regional food. For now I will leave you with a picture of the Blue Mosque and the sounds of the Mullah singing the evening prayer for the city.
