Over the top! Amazing! Georgeous! One of the most beautiul hotels I have ever seen!
These are some of the words and phrases that can be used to describe this resort hotel south of Da Nang and neaby Hoi An.
Saying this for me is not a stretch as I have been so lucky in my life to have seen thousands and thousands of hotels. But who would have imagined that I would have found such a place in Vietnam.
When we think of Vietnam, super deluxe resort hotels do not come to mind immediatly. I tend to think of this country in relation to the war that our US troups fought against the Viet Cong. Here it is called The American War even though we took over to help the south Vietnames fight the French and also the Chinese and Russian communiists that were trying to make inroads in this country.
Today, this bustling country is filled with beautiful hotels along the beach....China Beach and further on down the coast. There are hotels for Europeans, hotels for Australians as well as wealthy Japanese and of course Vietnamese. But as political relations with the US were just re-established in the late 1980's, hotels for North American tourists were a while in coming.
However.....our money and our buying power has arrived....and the Nam Hai is one sybriatic property that appeals to our luxury tastes.
Each room is its own private villa complette with platform bed, sunken living room with electronics panel, outdoor lanai facing the Eastern Sea and a bathroom with his and her facilities. There is also an outdoor showere amongst the foliage where you can bath surrounded by birds and flowers and exotic Asian sculptures. At night, all these areas are surrounded by atmospheric lighting and white mosquito nets althoughth I did not see one of these whiney creatures in my room or anywhere else for that matter. There is a lap pool as well as a double sized olympic pool all with infinity edges. As a matter of fact at check in there is an non swim infinity pool that blends into the other two pools which then blend into the palm trees, beach and ocean.
For entertainment you can enjoy the piano bar, or either of the two sea facing restaurants....or you can just submerge yourself in your private pool villa if you are so lucky as to have reserved one.
Hoi An is the option here. A small town full of crafts and great restaurants, you can spend an afternoon there if you like. But why bother when you can indulge in a full day at the Nam Hai.
What a shame I was here all by myself! Next time Larry, I will bring you!
