LIMA ON THE RUN

My favorite hotel in Lima is the Miraflores Park which overlooks the sea and a beautiful park. It is within walking distance from everything....but when you hit the ground rolling...you hardly have time to enjoy this beautiful spot.
From the wonderful MS Aqua floating along the Amazon in the north of Peru....I flew into Lima arriving late at night. The hotel was lit up with its beautiful chandeliers but I was way to tired to do anything but go to bed.
The next morning was filled with visits from friends and family as way in my history I lived in Lima and had a lot of catching up to do.
Lima is a very social place and I went from dinner parties to lunches to visits to downtown which is now bright and beautiful and very safe. One thing I really wanted to do was a culinary tour of Lima now that Peru and Lima have acquired the reputation of world class cuisine. I visited the San Isidro Market with my chef and teacher and then went to learn how to make some of the exotic dishes that Peru is famous for.
Then it was off to one of my favorites......Rosa Nautica....a lovely seafood restaurant on a pier over the sea. I also must say that aside from Pisco Sours....Peru has developed some lovely wines from the area around Ica.
Unfortunatly I didn´t have time to linger as I am off to Arequipa in southern Peru to see a wonderful new Orient Express hotel in the Colca Canyon. More from the wonderful Las Casitas Del Colca tomorrow.
