MUNICH FOR THE MIDDLE EAST

Finally we arrived in Germany after a very very uncomfortable night on my favorite Delta. The Boeing 676 we flew on had so many empty seats that thankfully we could lie down and get some rest as even in business class the seats only declined about 2 inches.

but getting around in Europe is very easy which makes things easy for our tired bodies. Airports lead lead to rail and bus stations and before you know it you can be anywhere on the continent.
Trains in Europe are modern and fast averaging about 90 MPH so it doesn't take long to get some place. Plus they are clean and neat with full service aboard. The transportation system in the USA could take lessons here and really learn the meaning of service.

So...as they say in Germany....we are in Munich...land of the Saudis! We have never seen so many Saudis and other Midleastern people in our lives (outside of Riyadh or Dubai). They are eveerywhere. And most are shopping at Chanel , Gucci, Bally, and other designer stores. What I could not figure out was why buy all that beautiful stuff when you have to wear a black galabia with everything but your eyes covered? Oh well...at least there are some people traveling and buying. Americans are definitely not! We are a scarce commodity here in Germany.

My traveling companion and I tried to help the local economy with a beer in every stop....but there is no way we can help on the designer end of things as our dollar still doesn't buy too much with the exchange rate of the euros.

So...(again) the stay is quick and tomorrow its off to Salzburg, Austria... We wonder if that city too will be a cool respite for the people from the hot sands of Arabia.

Prost!
