When was the last time you were in a blizzard in October? What possessed me to go to Bozeman, Mt. in October? Wouldn't it be fun to be with my family during Halloween....?
When I made the air reservations in July...I thought there would be colored leaves, and fall breezes and pumpkin patches where I could help the kids pick the pumpkins and then carve them into scary faces. My family, who used to live in Denver recently moved to Montana for a slower lifestyle. What they didn't figure on was the weather! In Bozeman, the first snow fall comes around the beginning of October and then there is snow on the ground until early June.
Weather systems move across the country from the Pacific Ocean around Portland and Seattle and move down across Montana and on to the east.
So when we deplaned in Bozeman...there was at least one foot of snow on the ground and the temperature was 22 degrees at 4PM. Yikes...what a change from Florida! Thank goodness Delta routed us from Florida to Atlanta to Salt Lake to Bozeman (fun you say?...just love all those changes). My parents were routed through Denver on United and they experienced one of the largest snowfalls in history at such an early date. At my kids old house in Golden....they had 44in of snow in a two day period...quite an anomaly for Golden. My parents, needless to say, spent the night in Denver before continuing on to Bozeman the next day...thanks to the weather.
The great thing about Denver is that one day it snows and then the next, the sun comes out and melts the snow. Bozeman is not that lucky due to the weather fronts that blow in from the Pacific Coast!
So it was into the snow we came....Halloween with snow boots on. Halloween costumes with ski clothes. Oh well...it's all about family! Tomorrow is the big day.....! What will you wear?
Will you be a witch or a goblin or a ghosty. I know that whatever I decide to be....I plan on wearing a lot more clothes than what I would wear in Florida....!
HAPPY SPOOKY HALLOWEEN!
