Next week I am off again to Argentina. Buenos Aires is filled with such great restaurants and things to do. I have been so many times, it almost seems like a second home. I have friends that I see every time I go, and this time a very special friend is having a medical procedure so hope that I will be able to see her and her very special husband to wish her well. I don't want to go to visit her in the hospital, but will if I need to. Good friends are hard to find.
After viewing many of the new hotels (they sprout up every week) , i am on my way Uruguay to see the new happenings in Montevideo, Colonia del Sacramento, Punta del Este and more. I can't wait to see the new Hotel Vik at the beach and also their vineyards farther inland.
I will be taking the BuqueBus (giant hydrofoil) from Buenos Aires (read BA) to Montevideo. This huge boat, bigger than a Airbus, floats across the Rio de La Plata (Silver River) separating Argentina from Uruguay by a spans of water so big, you can't see the opposite shore of either country. The trip will take close to 2 hours.
Then I will spend a week of exploring and checking out hotels and things to do in Uruguay. I know they have an up and coming wine industry and the country is one of new hip tourist destinations in the Southern Hemisphere. Watch for its popularity before the Soccer World Cup in Brazin in 2014 and then the Olympics. Uruguay is sure to make a splash.
Just a few days left here in the US...then off I go. BA and Uruguay...here I come!
