I am on my way to Atlanta, Georgia for the weekend. Visiting my 90 year old parents and enjoying a weekend of eating at Atlanta's great restaurants and shopping!
Wow...does Atlanta have shopping! What a great city Atlanta has become.
I moved to Atlanta in 1984 from Lima, Peru. With two little girls in tow....I arrived at my mom and dads home in Buckhead...a sleepy little residential area about 15 miles from the center of the city. Buckhead was named for the tavern that was located at the divide in the road on the way north to either Chicago to the west or to Richmond and on to New York on the east coast. Over the door of the tavern was a bucks head...thus the name Buckhead began and stayed with the area until today.
Well sleepy little Buckhead is now the center of the hipest shopping area south of the Mason Dixon Line. There are also tons of million dollar mansions (not my Mom and Dad's place), condos, town houses, restaurants and an entire city within a city. Buckhead is Atlanta!
So after my weekend fix...its back to Florida....sans traffic...shopping and restaurants.
